Kellerton was the first town in Ringgold County to be created when a railroad was built. The first passenger train reached Kellerton in 1879. The place was named after the judge Isaac W. Keller (1828-1923), who settled in 1855 coming from Ohio in Ringgold County. In 1881, Kellerton was incorporated as an independent municipality.
