Detlef Kemena

Detlef Kemena (born March 12, 1947 ) is a former German soccer player . The defender was under contract with Arminia Bielefeld from 1965 to 1974 - with a two-year break from 1971 to 1973 with Arminia Gütersloh .

Career

As a teenager, Kemena played at Union Herford . As early as 1962, his footballing talent led him to the German national school team . At the side of the later Bundesliga player Walter Bechtold , he was used in April in the two international matches against England (2-1 win in London) and Wales (0-0 draw in Cardiff). He was the captain of the German national youth team and played in a team with later senior national players such as Norbert Nigbur , Berti Vogts and Franz Beckenbauer . In 1964 and 1965 he took part in the UEFA youth tournament with the German team .

Kemena moved to Arminia Bielefeld in the Football Regionalliga West in 1965 and, five years later, in 1969/70 , made promotion to the Bundesliga with the team . After the runner-up in the west behind VfL Bochum and in front of competitors Wuppertaler SV and Fortuna Düsseldorf , the protégés of coach Egon Piechaczek prevailed against Karlsruher SC , SV Alsenborn , Tennis Borussia Berlin and VfL Osnabrück and climbed into the Bundesliga on. Kemena played all eight promotion round matches and together with goalkeeper Gerd Siese and defender colleagues Horst Wenzel , Dieter Schulz and Klaus Köller formed the defensive block. In the 1970/71 season he made his debut with Arminia on the starting day, August 15, 1970, with a 3-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. In the four following league games against Rot-Weiss Essen , Eintracht Frankfurt , Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hamburger SV , he was in the team of the promoted team. His career in the Bundesliga ended with his appearance on matchday 30, May 8, 1971, in the 4-1 defeat at SV Werder Bremen . Kemena played ten Bundesliga and 116 regional league games for Arminia , scoring nine goals.

The former school and youth national player joined the regional league team Arminia Gütersloh in 1971/72. Under the coaches Günter Luttrop and Michael Pfeiffer , another 52 regional league appearances with six goals in the western league were added from 1971 to 1973. He returned to the Alm for the 1973/74 round . As a player-coach he was still active for SV Steinheim and the regional league team Fortuna Schlangen .

After his career, Kemena worked as a teacher at the secondary school in Bielefeld-Bethel. There he taught sports and English . He retired in July 2010.
