The Kemmlitzbach even Kemmlitz or popular Kaamlts (of Slavic came for stone ), is a seven kilometer long stream that the villages Burkersdorf , Schlegel and Hirschfelde flows. It rises on the western slope of the Buchberg in the Oberwald , later flows through several ponds in Schlegel and unites in the Kemmlitztal with the Dittelsdorf water , which in turn is fed by the Buchbergbach and the Ziegelscheunenbach. About a kilometer further on, the Kemmlitzbach flows into the Lusatian Neisse near Rosenthal . Since this brook is mainly used to drain agricultural land, its water level is subject to strong fluctuations. In the past, this often resulted in floods and flooding.
geology
The subsoil of the brook consists essentially of Rumburg granite , into which the river bed was cut about 20 to 30 meters deep, thus forming the Kemmlitzbach valley . The granite can be discovered in several abandoned quarries on the bank slope, blue quartz with embedded rutile needles can also be found .
Flora and fauna
A narrow stream floodplain runs along the stream , which together with the hillside forest forms a protected area. The forest consists mainly of sycamore maple , ash , gray alder and willow . Other characteristic plants are veal heads , sweet milkweed , balsam , stiff-haired dandelion , spotted St. John's wort and forest goat's beard . Maple, ash and whorl-leaved white root mainly grow on the steep slopes .
The valley of the Kemmlitzbach is the habitat of several strictly protected animal species and belongs to the FFH area Lausitzer Neisse . The bat species great mouse- eared bat and the endangered pug bat are native here.
