Ken Fagerberg (born January 9, 1989 ) is a Swedish football player . The striker left his home country for Denmark in 2008 and returned in 2016.

Career

Fagerberg started playing football at Lindholmens BK . In 2000 the striker moved to the youth department of the traditional club Örgryte IS . In April 2007 he made his debut for the club in the Superettan . Right away he was able to earn a regular place and was characterized by his accuracy. In addition to twelve goals this season, which earned him eighth place in the scorers list, he prepared two more goals.

After his excellent start in men's football, Fagerberg was also called up in the Swedish U18 team and made his debut in the team's 1-0 win against the youth team from Ajax Amsterdam . In the 2-0 win over the offspring from Feyenoord Rotterdam two days later, he scored his first goal in the national shirt. As a result, he established himself in the national team as a regular goal scorer and recommended himself for higher tasks. On February 6, 2008 he was for the first time in the Swedish U21 national team when he completed 45 minutes of play in the 3-0 defeat against the Portuguese junior national team. At half-time he was replaced by Rawez Lawan .

Accordingly, Fagerberg attracted attention both nationally and internationally, and rumors quickly spread that clubs such as IFK Norrköping but also Sampdoria Genoa were interested in him. For the 2008 season, however, he moved to Denmark for FC Midtjylland in the Superliga , where he signed a three-year contract.

With his new employer, Fagerberg could not establish himself permanently in the regular formation in the second half of the 2007/08 season and fluctuated between first team and substitute bench. At the end of the season he finished second with the team behind champions Aalborg BK , so that in July 2008 he made his European debut in the first qualifying round for the 2008/09 UEFA Cup against Welsh representatives Bangor City . He was replaced shortly after half-time, the substitute for him Kim Christensen scored a hat trick within ten minutes . After injury problems, he was only used irregularly in the course of the subsequent Super League season.

In early 2010 Fagerberg returned to his first professional station, Örgryte IS, on loan. By the summer he played ten games for the Gothenburg club in the Superettan. After the loan period expired in the summer, he decided to return to Denmark. After his return he was mainly in the club's reserve team, but was also an irregular member of coach Allan Kuhn's first division squad .

After a loan period in 2011 to the Danish second division club Viborg FF , in which Fagerberg knew how to shine as a regular goalscorer, he again missed the breakthrough at FC Midtjylland and was finally transferred to AC Horsens in the summer of 2012 . His stay here was overshadowed by various injuries, so that he returned to Viborg FF in January 2014 and signed a contract there with a term of two and a half years. However, his second stay at the club was unsuccessful, he only played two short appearances until the end of the season and was then released. Then the second division Vendsyssel FF signed him .

In January 2016 Fagerberg returned to Sweden and joined the second division Assyriska Föreningen , with whom he signed a two-year contract. After the club wanted to renegotiate his contract immediately and provided a lower salary, he left the club again after only half a season in which he had fluctuated between substitute bench and starting eleven and moved within the Superettan to Ljungskile SK .
