Kenan Williams (aka Viktor Svensson, Viktor Arne Emanuel Svensson, Victory; bourgeois Kenan JL Weinberg-Ulusoy; born December 3, 1990 in Salzgitter ) is a German, Turkish and American pop singer and songwriter with influences from R&B , hip- Hop , soul and dance.

Life

As the oldest of four children, Williams grew up in Aachen from the age of six . There he attended elementary and secondary school as well as high school. At the University of Maastricht he obtained the Bachelor Accounts. He is currently attending Columbia University in New York City .

Musical career

In March 2010 Williams signed his first record deal with the EMI Group and appeared for the first time as the opening act for Fettes Brot in June 2010 in Cologne. On March 5, 2011, he won the National Unreleased Solo Artist Contest and the time-limited contract was extended indefinitely. In April 2011 he signed an advertising contract with Schwarzkopf .

He moved to Universal Music Group through the takeover in 2012 . At that time he was engaged in demo recordings and wrote over 200 songs. He took part in the song Diamonds by Rihanna with.

In October 2012, a talent hunter became aware of him and introduced him to Jay-Z . In the following days he appeared as the opening act of Jay-Z at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and was hired by Roc Nation .

This challenged him to complete his years of work on his debut album. "Time Can't Save Me" was chosen as the first single in mid-July and sold more than 270,000 copies worldwide. The single achieved fame through the opening in the film The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug . On September 23, 2013 his debut album "Rebel" was released on the American and Asian iTunes market. Due to contractual disruptions, the publication in Europe was delayed and did not take place until the beginning of January 2014. "Rebel" sold over 3 million copies worldwide and went platinum in 4 countries. Williams was the first German artist to make the cover of Billboard Magazine .

As part of the "Rebel UK Tour" in October 2013, he opened up for Ellie Goulding . His second single, "Warrior", premiered on February 4, 2014 on private music broadcaster MTV in the UK. On February 21, he performed as a pre-artist for Beyoncé on the Mrs Carter World Tour 2014 . Due to the note and commemoration of the Holocaust victims, the video for "Warrior" has been blocked from YouTube in Europe. This violation was also evident at the 2014 Echo Awards. The organizers refused to show the video while the nominees were being listed.

Williams served for the next Ryan Tedder as a songwriter for the debut single Ghost of Ella Henderson .

Williams has been under contract with Monkey Puzzle Records since November 2015. So far MPR has only produced albums for Sia (singer) .

Williams again wrote the albums under various pseudonyms, "This Is Acting" by Sia and Anti (album) by Rihanna . From the latter, "Kiss It Better" was nominated for Best R&B Song at the 2017 Grammy Awards .

Eurovision Song Contest 2015

In August 2014, Williams was introduced to represent Turkey. Due to internal disagreements between the mandate, the TRT Media Group and the conservative government, Williams canceled participation in Vienna and released the song intended for the song contest two days later. The single "Believe" made it to number 1 on the Turkish chart list within three hours and was also in the top 10 of the single charts in Malta, Spain and Sweden for 4 weeks.

KWEEN

KWEEN was released in advance, under the label Roc Nation , on September 21, 2015 on the streaming service Tidal . On September 23, 2015, the publications followed on various other platforms and in stores. The album contains 15 songs, led by Timeb0mb , which was created through the collaboration with the American rapper Pitbull .

The license was taken over by Monkey Puzzle Records in December 2015.
