Kenneth Tobey

Kenneth Tobey (born March 23, 1917 in Oakland , † December 22, 2002 in Rancho Mirage ) was an American theater and film actor.

biography

Tobey went to the University of California in his teens and studied at that university's small theater . Later, thanks to his experience, he was able to study for a year and a half at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York , where classmates like Gregory Peck , Eli Wallach and Tony Randall were already . From 1940 he worked on Broadway and made his film debut in 1943 in the film The Ferry Man . He made his Hollywood debut in a Western by Clarence E. Mulford . He played his most important role in 1951 in the science fiction classic The Thing from Another World , a production by Howard Hawks.

During his retirement years, he often received acting assignments from people who grew up watching his 1950s science fiction films and considered Tobey a good actor. He also appeared in soaps for the fans. Together with other actors, Tobey turned normal films into comedies.

Tobey died of natural causes in 2002 at the age of 85.
