Kenneth Francis "Kenny" jacket (born January 5, 1962 in Watford ) is a former Welsh football player and current coach . Between 1982 and 1988 he was active for the Welsh national team .

Player career

Watford FC

Kenny Jackett made his debut in the Football League Second Division in 1979/80 for the English second division side Watford FC . 1981/82 he rose with his team in the first division. In the First Division 1982/83 the promoted to regular Kenny Jackett (41 league games / 4 goals) and top scorer Luther Blissett (27 hits) surprisingly reached the runner-up behind Liverpool FC . In the 1983/84 UEFA Cup , the club moved into the third round after successes over 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Levski Sofia , where they failed to Sparta Prague (2: 3 and 0: 4). The team was more successful in the FA Cup 1983/84 when it made it to the final of this prestigious competition. The team coached by Graham Taylor lost the game, however, 2-0 to Everton . In the First Division , the association established from Watford in mid-table before 1987/88 was made the descent to the second division. Due to a serious knee injury, Kenny Jackett ended his playing career prematurely in 1990 at the age of 28.

Welsh national team

On September 22, 1982 Jackett made his debut in the Welsh national team in a 1-0 home win in the qualifying game for the European Championship 1984 against Norway. By 1988 he played another thirty internationals, but could not qualify for any international tournament with Wales.

Coaching career

Watford FC

In June 1996 he was introduced as the new head coach of his home club Watford FC, which had been relegated to the third division the previous year. After a clearly missed promotion in the 1996/97 season, he was replaced by his former coach Graham Taylor in the summer of 1997 and subsequently took over the post of assistant coach.

Swansea City

In April 2004 he took over as head coach of the fourth division club Swansea City . In the newly introduced Football League Two 2004/05 he led the club to third place and thus achieved promotion to the third division. The promoted team was also successful in the new division and moved into the play-offs via a sixth place in the table. After a first-round win over Brentford FC , Swansea lost the play-off final on penalties against Barnsley FC . In the second half of the 2006/07 season, Kenny Jackett resigned on February 15, 2007 as coach of Swansea City.

Millwall FC

After a temporary job in the Manchester City coaching team , Jackett moved to Millwall FC on November 6, 2007 . After a year in the lower midfield of the third division Jackett Millwall led in the Football League One 2008/09 play-off final. Against Scunthorpe United , however, the team lost 3-2 and missed promotion to the second division. In the following season , the club from the London borough of Lewisham moved into the play-off final again and made it to promotion after a 1-0 win over Swindon Town . In the new division, Millwall ended the 2010/11 season as ninth in the table. In 2011/12 , the club finished 16th at the end of the season. In May 2012 Kenny Jackett was named April Coach of the Month in the second division.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

For the 2013/14 season Jackett Dean Saunders followed as coach of the second division relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers .
