The Keret ( Russian Кереть ; karel. Kieretti ) is a river in Louchi district in the north of the Republic of Karelia in northwestern Russia .
The river forms the outflow of the lake of the same name Keret . It flows north first, then turns east. It flows through a number of smaller lakes. It passes the M18 trunk road and the railway line from Saint Petersburg to Murmansk . Finally, it flows into the Kandalaksha Bay and the White Sea near the deserted town of Keret, opposite the island of Keret .
The length of the Keret is 80 km. The catchment area covers 3360 km². At the railway bridge over the Keret the mean discharge is 23 m³ / s.
At river kilometer 8.8 the Louksa flows into the Keret from the right.
In the river there are u. a. the following fish species: Atlantic salmon , perch , pike , whitefish , rutilus , rainbow trout , pink salmon , trout , smelt .
