Kevin Robert Evans (born July 10, 1965 in Peterborough , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . During his career he played for the Minnesota North Stars and San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League .

Career

Evans initially played for three years from 1983 to 1986 in the Canadian junior leagues OHL and WHL for various teams.

During his last year in the WHL, the Kalamazoo Wings from the International Hockey League signed the undrafted left winger in 1986. The Wings were at that time the farm team of the Minnesota North Stars from the National Hockey League , which Evans signed before the 1988/89 season . In the 1990/91 season , the Canadian ran in his first four games for the North Stars before he was selected in the 1991 NHL Dispersal Draft by the newly formed San Jose Sharks . This used him five more times in the 1991/92 season and Evans scored the only scorer point of his NHL career. Mainly he spent the season but with the Kansas City Blades from the IHL, with which he could win the Turner Cup , the league championship.

The five NHL appearances with the Sharks were the last of his career and the Canadian subsequently played exclusively in the minor leagues . From 1992 to 1995 he played in the International Hockey League, 1995 to 1996 and 1998 to 1999 in the Central Hockey League , 1996 to 1998 in the East Coast Hockey League and from 1999 to 2000 in the Western Professional Hockey League . During this time he also worked as a player assistant coach and head coach.
