KidCourage Award

The KidCourage Prize is a project of the Osnabrück Community Foundation in Osnabrück , Lower Saxony , and was launched in 2003. It is under the motto Strong for Others .

The Osnabrück Community Foundation has set itself the task of recognizing committed children and young people from the district and the city of Osnabrück for their special social behavior in a publicly effective manner and offering a prize that is awarded annually. Children and young people up to the age of 18 who set a good example in their behavior and actions can be proposed for the award , regardless of their origin, education and skin color.

Lower Saxony's Minister of Social Affairs Mechthild Ross-Luttmann said at the pricing 2009: "More and more young people are characterized by a voluntary social commitment from ..... projects such as KidCourage set an example and must be supported with all our might" .

Award winners

  • 2003: Six girls from Bad Laer who regularly looked after handicapped children in the Bad Laer day care center
  • 2004: Youth groups of the Bonnus congregation Osnabrück and the Paul Gerhard congregation Wallenhorst , who are committed to holiday camps with handicapped children
  • * 2005: Eight young women from Osnabrück have worked in an exemplary manner and with great perseverance for a former schoolgirl and are continuing this. This youngster came to Osnabrück in mid-2004 without parents from sub-Saharan Africa . Raped before her "suspension", she gave birth to a daughter in 2005.   • 2008/2009: Already in the 5th grade, students came together under the motto “A good deed every year” to collect money through mini-jobs. The group became more active, found out about social institutions and experienced other groups of people "up close". They chose the target group for their donations themselves, including B. the day home of the homeless and retirement homes . Each year a 23-person jury , supported by a youth jury, selects the best three from the proposals. The award-winning children and young people will be rewarded with certificates and a sum of money. Candidates for the KidCourage Prize can be proposed at any time by any citizen .

Since 2009 it has been possible to award a sponsorship prize for a long-term project in addition to the direct awarding of individuals or groups.
