The Verkehrsgemeinschaft Osnabrück (VOS) is an amalgamation of the local bus companies of the city of Osnabrück (Stadtwerke) and the district of Osnabrück . The NordWestBahn has also been involved since 2005 . Although the transport community only represents a cooperation between several otherwise independent transport companies, it occurs towards the passengers, u. a. through a uniform corporate design , like your own company.

history

The predecessors of the VOS were the Verbund Kraftverkehr Osnabrück-Süd (KOS) and the "VGO" of the same name, founded in 1972.

VOS was founded in 1996 with the aim of merging regional bus services with the Osnabrück / Belm city bus network . In 1998 the community completely reorganized the bus network (network 98 based on the "Osnabrück model"). Modern city bus networks have been introduced in several cities (including Melle in 1998 and Bramsche in 2000 ). The integration of the regional bus network into the Osnabrück city network took place in several steps, the last area being Iburger Strasse in the direction of Georgsmarienhütte .

In connection with the reactivation of the Lower Saxony section of the Osnabrück – Bielefeld (“Haller Willem”) line, a network tariff was introduced in 2005 specifically for this route.

Traffic area

The traffic area is divided into six sub-areas:

Area 1 VOS Osnabrück / Belm City of Osnabrück and Belm (central district)
Area 2 VOS Nord-Ost Bad Essen , Belm (districts Icker and Vehre), Bohmte , Ostercappeln
Area 3 VOS Ost Belm (Haltern district), Bissendorf , Melle
Area 4 VOS Süd Bad Iburg , Bad Laer , Bad Rothenfelde , Dissen , Georgsmarienhütte , Glandorf , Hagen , Hasbergen , Hilter
Area 5 VOS Wallenhorst Wallenhorst , Neuenkirchen-Vörden , Damme
Area 6 VOS North City of Bramsche and joint municipalities Artland (City of Quakenbrück ), Bersenbrück , Fürstenau , Neuenkirchen

Every year at the start of school after the summer holidays, six timetable booklets are published for the above-mentioned areas. There are also various line and local timetables as well as a “ Stadtbus Bramsche ” booklet . The colors of the covers of the timetables change between green, blue and red every year.

Tariff system

The common room is divided into tariff zones, each of which includes a location. The city of Osnabrück and the suburb Belm form a uniform tariff area. The towns and communities in the district are mostly divided into several tariff areas. The urban area of Melle with the Melle city bus service, for example, consists of seven tariff areas.

The tariff consists of a basic price (level 1 or 0 in Osnabrück / Belm) and eight almost linear price levels (2 to 9). The highest level is already reached at a relatively short distance from the starting point, for example for the Melle - Wallenhorst route. Price level 9 then applies to all destinations beyond this. The VOS tariff system is generally only valid on buses.

In the area of VOS-Süd there are only the odd price levels up to and including 7 and for trips beyond Osnabrück levels 8 and 9. In this area, the Osnabrück - Bielefeld ("Haller Willem") railway line can be used for a fee. The VOS-Plus tariff, which has been specially introduced for this, is only valid in the southern district and in the Osnabrück / Belm tariff area (only available up to price level 7). A continuous tariff with the VOS-Plus tariff, for example to Wallenhorst or Ostercappeln, is not possible. Different prices for train and bus are used within the VOS: A lower tariff is offered for the exclusive use of bus connections (on lines partially parallel to the train).

In the city of Osnabrück, the Westphalian tariff is also recognized (networks "Münsterland / Ruhr-Lippe" and "TeutoOWL"). The railway lines in the direction of North Rhine-Westphalia are also included, but not for journeys in the district of Osnabrück (including to Hagen am Teutoburger Wald , Hasbergen , Bissendorf , Melle ). For the “Haller Willem” railway line, there is a special transitional tariff for trains and buses to Bielefeld , which in Westphalia only includes the directly adjoining cities and communities of Borgholzhausen , Halle and Steinhagen . The Lower Saxony tariff applies to rail connections within the district (including Osnabrück- Sutthausen ).
