The Kiebitzhöhe is a district of Kölleda in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia .

history

The Kiebitzhöhe was built as a new district in the west of the city in 1958. The name is derived from the lapwing hill located there. At the time of National Socialism , the Luftwaffe (Wehrmacht) had one of its largest bases on the Kiebitzhöhe . In the German Democratic Republic , Kiebitzhöhe consisted of five concrete apartment blocks. The central old commanders' area became a clinic for tuberculosis sufferers . Otherwise, the consumer (retail chain) maintained a small sales point. The old agricultural supply turned into a kind of LPG . Today there is an industrial park on the Kiebitzhöhe. The best-known company is MDC Power GmbH, which manufactures engines for Daimler AG .

The Kiebitzhöhe stop is on the Straussfurt – Großheringen railway line (Pfefferminzbahn) . Regional trains run every two hours on line EB 27 of the Erfurt Railway to Sömmerda and Buttstädt .
