The Kiesruck is a 1265 m above sea level. NN high mountain in the extension area of the Bavarian Forest National Park between Great Falkenstein and Great Rachel .
geography
The villages Spiegelhütte and Buchenau are on the western descent of the mountain . Below the eastern flank of the Kiesruck are the two marshlands Dreilinienmoos and Grenzmoos , which together extend over 150 hectares in a depression called “ Gfällei ” . This is where the Stubenbach rises , which drains to the North Sea. One of the main European watersheds , the Elbe-Danube watershed , runs across the ridge . The brooks that arise on the southern and western flanks of the ridge drain via the Kleiner Regen as receiving waters into the Danube area towards the Black Sea .
perpetration
There are no marked hiking trails on the Kiesruck. The E6 long-distance hiking trail passes below the summit .
You get to the top of the mountain past a large boulder with a "rock gate". At the highest point of this rock group there is a small metal cross on the summit . There is a very good view to the west and southwest, made possible by a larger windthrow area created by Hurricane Kyrill . About 500 m below the summit towards the southwest there is a rocky elevation, the "flag bar", with another small summit cross.
