The Prášilský potok (German Stubenbach , in sections also Marchbach and Veitbach ) is a right tributary of the Křemelná in Bavaria and the Czech Republic .

course

The Marchbach rises on the southeast slope of the Lackenberg / Plesná (1337 m) in the Bavarian Forest . Its source is in a moor on the forest saddle "Auf dem Kanapee" near the German-Czech border. At its headwaters leading to the southeast, the brook flows about 700 m through German territory and then forms the border between Germany and the Czech Republic for three kilometers. The woody valley of the exchange stream passes on this section south of the Ždánidla ( Steindlberg , 1309m nm) and north of the Scheuereck mountain (1193 m) past the abandoned settlements Horni Ždánidla ( Obersteindlberg ) and Pomezí ( Gsenget ), where the cross-border trail Prasily / Scheuereck on Gsenget crosses the stream. The Marchbach / Prášilský potok flows into Czech territory at the northern foot of the shaft house bar (1168 m). From the confluence of the Hochfichtenbachl, the stream is called Stubenbach in German usage.

Between the Poledník ( Mittagsberg , 1315 m nm) and its pre-summit Skalka ( small bars , 1237 m nm) and the Ždánidla, the Prášilský potok forms a pronounced notch valley in the Bohemian Forest's main ridge with north-northeast direction to the desert area Dolní Ždánidla ( Untersteindlberg ) . Then the valley widens and the stream flows through Prášily .

The lower course of the brook leads west of the Slunečná ( Sonnberg , 996 m) past the desert areas Formberg, Zadní Chalupy ( rear houses ) and Vysoké Lávky ( Hohenstegen ) to the north on the Kochánovské pláně ( Kocheter plateau ). From the confluence of the Jezerní potok, the stream was previously called Veitbach. After 11.6 kilometers, the Prášilský potok flows into the Křemelná near the Šerlův Dvůr ( Schörlhof ) desert . The catchment area covers 45.1 km², the flow rate at the mouth is 1.43 m³ / s.

The entire course of the stream flows through the core zones of the Bavarian Forest and Šumava National Parks .

history

The Stubenbachtal, which was part of the royal Waldhwozd , was not settled until the 18th century. The old Zwiesler Steig led through the valley from Bohemia to Zwiesel .

From 1948 to 1991 the valley was in the restricted area of the Dobrá Voda military training area and in the area of the Iron Curtain. The settled villages of Vysoké Lávky and Zadní Chalupy were destroyed by tank and artillery fire in the 1950s. Likewise, the border towns of Pomezí, Horní Ždánidla and Dolní Ždánidla were razed to the ground. The only settlement on Prášilský potok was only Prášily, which together with Dobrá Voda formed the seat of the military training area. In 1997 the border crossing at Gsenget was reopened to hikers. Because of its location in the national parks, the road from Prášily to Bavaria was not restored.

Tributaries

  • Smrkový potok / Hochfichtenbachl (r), on Gsenget
  • Jezerní potok ( Seebach or Mühlbach ; r), outflow of the Prášilské jezero , near Zadní Chalupy
