The city is located in northeast Texas on US Highway 259 and Highways 31, 42 and 135, 77 km to the east from the Louisiana border , 105 km to the northeast from Arkansas , and 145 km to the north from Oklahoma , and has a total area of ​​40 .0 km², of which 0.1 km² is water.

history

The area was settled before the American Civil War , but the place was only founded in 1872, when the International Great Northern Railroad laid its tracks between Longview and Palestine .
