Kim Dong-jin (born January 29, 1982 in Dongducheon ) is a former South Korean soccer player . He ended his career in early 2019.
Career
At the age of 18, Kim began his first division career in South Korea at FC Seoul , which at that time was still called Anyang Cheetahs . That was also the club's most successful period in recent years, the 2000 championship was followed by the 2001 runner-up and the final in the Asian Champions Cup in 2002. Kim established himself on the left side of midfield and over the years made over 100 top division appearances for the club.
At the end of 2003 he also played for the South Korean national team for the first time . In 2004 he belonged to the tribe of the Olympic selection and played all games in Athens. Since then, he has been an integral part of the national team and also played seven qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. In contrast to the club, he was used there defensively on the left side of defense. At the World Cup, he then played two of the three World Cup games in his country in South Korea's squad .
He and his compatriot Lee Ho followed the outgoing national coach Dick Advocaat to Russia after the World Cup and have been working for Zenit St. Petersburg ever since . Kim Dong-jin came on as a last-minute substitute for Wiktor Faisulin in the 2007/2008 UEFA Cup final .
In 2010 he moved back to the domestic K-League and joined Ulsan Hyundai FC . In 2011 he moved again and this time joined FC Seoul . In 2012 he moved to China to the Hangzhou Nabel Greentown .
