Kim Hirschovits (born May 9, 1982 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who was last under contract with Espoo United in the second-rate Mestis .

Career

Kim Hirschovits began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HIFK Helsinki , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2000/01 season . He remained pointless and punished in two games. In the following season , the center prevailed in the HIFK professional team in the SM-liiga and increased to six goals and ten assists in 45 games. In the further course of the season he also came to three appearances for Haukat in the second-rate Mestis and finally ended the season with the North American junior team Chicago Steel, for which he scored two goals and assists in six games in the United States Hockey League .

In the 2002 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round as a total of 194th player selected by the New York Rangers , for which he never played. Instead, he returned to his Finnish homeland, where he was on the ice for HIFK Helsinki in the SM-liiga until 2006. At HIFK he was able to improve continuously during this period and developed into one of the leading players in his team. For the 2006/07 season , Hirschovits moved to Jokerit Helsinki within the SM-liiga . There he was able to convince right away and was voted player of the month of the league in September 2006. At the end of the season he reached the playoff final with his new team, in which he defeated Kärpät Oulu with Jokerit in the best-of-five series with a sweep . He himself contributed to the good performance this season with 64 points, including 21 goals.

After another season at Jokerit Helsinki, Hirschovits returned to HIFK Helsinki one more time. There he was able to convince especially in the 2008/09 season , in which he scored 18 goals and 48 assists in 58 games for HIFK in the main round. So he was both top scorer in the league, for which he received the Veli-Pekka-Ketola trophy , as well as the best assists. In addition, he was voted SM-liiga Player of the Month in January 2009. In the following season , the former national player became team captain at HIFK. With 53 points scorer in a total of 60 games, he was able to build on the previous year's performance. For the 2010/11 season , the Finn went to other European countries for the first time and signed a contract with Timrå IK in the Swedish Elitserien , where he immediately became assistant captain as a newcomer. In May 2011, Hirschovits received another contract with his parent club HIFK Helsinki, for which he completed 30 games by January 2013, before he moved to the KHL to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod . With Torpedo he reached the KHL playoffs and scored 12 scorer points in a total of 24 KHL games.

In June 2012, Hirschovits was signed by Lulea HF , but returned to the KHL again in January 2013 when he was signed by HK Dinamo Minsk . With Dinamo he took part in the Nadezhda Cup in 2013 because the club had missed the play-offs. In June 2013 he moved back to Finland and signed a contract with the Espoo Blues from the Liiga , where he was immediately appointed team captain. In the 2014/15 season , the attacker recorded a total of 58 points from 59 games, making him the player with the highest points in the league and, with 45 assists, the most successful template provider of the past season. As a result, Hirschovits was awarded the Lasse Oksanen trophy as the best player in the main round and the golden helmet as the best player overall. In December 2015, he moved to Oulun Kärpät within the league .

Between 2016 and 2018, Hirschovits played as team captain at Espoo United in the Mestis before Espoo United went bankrupt in April 2018.

In the 2018/19 season he is employed as sports director at Kiekko-Espoo .

International

For Finland , Hirschovits took part in the junior division exclusively in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2002 , where he and his team won the bronze medal. In the senior sector he was in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2007, 2008 and 2009 .
