Kim Hyeok (born April 7, 1987 in Seoul ) is a South Korean ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Daemyung Killer Whales in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2018 .

Career

Kim Hyeok began his career as a hockey player on the Kyung-bok High School team . He later played for the Japanese team Tōhoku Free Blades in the Asia League Ice Hockey . With the team from Hachinohe he was able to win the championship of this league in 2011 with teams from China, Japan and South Korea. In the same year he moved back to South Korea and joined High1 . After reaching the playoff semi-finals in 2014, he left the team from Chuncheon and played for Daemyung Sangmu , the newly formed third South Korean team in the Asia League Ice Hockey , for two years . In 2016 he returned to High1 for two years before joining the Daemyung Killer Whales .

International

For South Korea, Kim Hyeok first took part in the U-18 World Cup in 2005 in Division II, when the East Asians were promoted to Division I. Despite this success, to which he contributed two goals, he was not nominated for either the U20 or the men for world championships in the next few years.

At the Asian Games 2011 Kim made his debut in the South Korean men's team and won the bronze medal with her behind Kazakhstan and Japan . In the same year he represented his home country for the first time at the World Cup in Division I, where he was also on the ice in 2012 , 2013 , 2015 and 2016 . He also participated in the in November 2012 in Nikko discharged the Olympic qualifying first round for the games in Sochi in part, 2014. There the South Koreans succeeded in kicking off a 5-4 win after penalty shootout against Great Britain . The British reached the next round, however, as South Korea suffered a 2-3 defeat after extra time in their second game against Asian opponents Japan .
