Kim Hyok-ju (born April 16, 1994 ) is a North Korean ice hockey player .

Career

Kim Hyok-ju made his first international appearance at the 2011 U20 World Cup , when North Korea was on the ice in Division III and his team finished third out of seven teams behind Mexico and Serbia.

With the men's national team he took part in the World Championships of Division III in 2013 and 2014 , when he was the second best scorer after the Bulgarian Ivan Khodulov and third best scorer after Khodulov and his compatriot Alexej Jotow . In both tournaments, the North Koreans missed promotion to Division II by only one place in second (2013 behind South Africa and 2014 behind Bulgaria ). In 2015 he played with the East Asians again in the lowest division of the World Championships. This time, thanks to a 4-3 win after extra time in the decisive game against hosts Turkey, he made it to Division II. There he played with his team at the World Championships in 2016 , 2017 and 2018 .

At club level, Kim plays for Pyongchol in the North Korean ice hockey league and was North Korean national champion with his team in 2014.
