Kim Schicklang

Kim Anja Schicklang (born July 11, 1972 in Ulm ) is a German film producer and director and speaker. As a transsexual activist, she is co-founder and chairwoman of the association Aktion Transsexualität und Menschenrecht eV She is one of the representatives of the German transsexual movement.

Life

Career and occupation

Schicklang, who claims to be a working-class child, completed a traineeship as an editor in the Göppingen regional studio of the antenna 1 radio station (Filstalwelle) between 1995 and 1999 and in 2000 worked as a copywriter in an advertising agency in Ulm. From 2000 to 2009 she worked as an on-air producer / designer and author at Radio Fantasy in Augsburg . From 2010 to 2017 she worked as an audio engineer at a Stuttgart film and sound production company. Part-time, she studied from 2010 with a grant from the Hans Böckler Foundation at the Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart audiovisual media. In 2013 she graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) with the final film Der Spalt - Mind Control and in 2016 with a Master of Arts (MA). Since 2018 she has been employed as a technician and engineer at SWR in Stuttgart.

Schicklang lives in Ludwigsburg today .

Transsexual activist

After Schicklang came out as a transsexual woman in 2005 , she co-founded the Transsexuality and Human Rights initiative in 2007, from which the Association Action Transsexuality and Human Rights eV (ATME) emerged in April 2008 , of which she is chairwoman. In 2012, Schicklang was one of three initiators of the state network LSBTTIQ in Baden-Württemberg. In March 2013, as the 1st chairwoman of ATME eV , she declared the association's withdrawal from the network, because "it is not possible to work with people who are not interested in the topic of transsexuality and because of them the visibility of this would fail". In 2015 she was the source of ideas for the so-called Stuttgart Declaration of her association ATME. In Berlin she organized a demonstration against the invisibility of gender diversity, which she criticized, by the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency and the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, and produced the short film Panel 5.

Other engagements

Since 2014 Schicklang has been involved in the peaceful protests against the opponents of the educational plan in Stuttgart and in 2015 was an activist in opposition to the Demo for All in the controversy over the educational plan . She is also a member of the LGBTTIQ working group of the ver.di district of Stuttgart.
