action

The protagonist is Truls Paulsen, captain of a Norwegian curling team - consisting of himself (Skip), Markus (Lead), Flemming (Second) and Espen (Vice-Skip). During the 1990s this team was the leading Norwegian curling team. Gordon, coach of the team and foster father Truls, taught him everything from an early age - from the secrets of precise curling to everyday things in life. The precision required for curling ultimately leads to obsessional neuroses in Truls , which break out completely in the finals of the 2001 national championships . A few days later he is picked up hallucinating by the police and admitted to a psychiatric ward.

Ten years later he is released into the care of his wife Sigrid, who is also appointed as his legal representative . Truls is exploited by Sigrid and sorted in the family hierarchy behind the dog Pelle. Due to medication, he is more likely to stand beside himself than to participate in life. Through Espen, Truls learns of his mentor Gordon's life-threatening lung disease - he urgently needs a lung transplant . A curling fan who has won 1 million crowns in the lottery donates this prize as prize money to the annual Norwegian curling championship to make his favorite sport more popular. Truls decides to win the championship with his old team to enable Gordon the life-saving operation. To achieve his goal he leaves Sigrid and finds shelter with Espen. When he rounds up the team to save Gordon, Markus quickly joins the party. Flemming, meanwhile an enthusiastic hobby orithologist , doesn't want to know anything about the project at first. Only after being kicked out of the ornithologist group, of which Truls is not innocent, does he join the curling team again. Espen is much more difficult to convince, due to an unresolved father complex (he has left the family) he suffers from chronic sleep disorders. Only through the intervention of his friends does a discussion and reconciliation with his father take place. Then the team is complete again.

At the same time, Truls gets to know the painter / artist Trine Kristine in the group therapy sessions - the two fall in love. She advises him to stop taking the medication, which he does with mixed feelings. Without medication, he suffers from hallucinations and anxiety , and under medication he cannot play curling.

Truls discontinued the medication anyway and the team easily reached the finals of the Norwegian curling championship. His greatest adversary, Stefan Ravndal, schemed against Truls together with Sigrid. It turns out that Truls has a legal representative with Sigrid and should not have been allowed to register for the competitions independently - Truls team is threatened with disqualification. The hearing on how to regain his maturity ends for Truls disastrously because he continues to suffer from hallucinations and attacks the psychiatrist. Markus, known as a womanizer, can ultimately ensure that Truls is declared healthy again. Team Paulsen against Team Ravndal gets to the heart-stopping final. When everything was already lost and motivated by Trine, Truls surpasses himself and wins the championship with the last stone. Gordon receives his life-saving surgery and can join the team at Truls and Trine's wedding in the mental hospital.
