kinokino is a weekly cinema magazine produced on BR television . kinokino is the longest-serving film magazine on German television . For 40 years, the program has presented the most important new starts in the cinema , shows interviews with actors and directors, reports on film awards and international festivals and portrays important film personalities. The kinokino editorial team pays special attention to German films and their protagonists -  directors , actors , producers , screenwriters , composers , outfitters and the like. a. - which have been followed benevolently but also critically over the years.

The online presence of the film magazine kinokino.de offers the program online in the afternoon before it is broadcast. In addition, kinokino.de has current film reviews of the films discussed in the program, detailed video interviews with filmmakers and stars, exclusive online video content and the online video section "kinokino Shortcuts", in which the most important new starts of the week are briefly presented and reviewed in an approx. three-minute clip (the "kinokino shortcuts" are also part of the television program in a shorter form.) In addition, kinokino supplies the BR24 app of Bayerischer Rundfunk with videos on the latest cinema relaunch and film events and interviews. All of kinokino's video content is also available in the BR media library.

The editorial department, which is based in the cinema and debut editorial department of BR television , also oversees the annual live broadcast for the Bavarian Film Prize . history

The program was first broadcast on January 14, 1978 under the title Kino Aktuell . For 25 years, kinokino went on the air once a month. Since January 2013, kinokino has been released every Wednesday at 10.45 p.m. Founding members of the film magazine are Silvia Koller , Hubert von Spreti, Peter Welz (producer). Former moderators were u. a. Hubert von Spreti, Vivian Naefe , Angelika Wittlich, Maria Knilli , Amelie Fried , Christoph Bauer.

kinokino has been part of the cinema and debut department of BR television since January 1, 2017, under the direction of Carlos Gerstenhauer.

Prizes and awards

  • On November 1, 2000, the leading organization of the film industry e. V. awarded the editorial team of the show kinokino with the SPIO Gold Medal of Honor in “Recognition of (your) extraordinary services to German film”.
  • At the 36th Hof International Film Festival in 2002, the city ​​of Hof's film prize was not awarded to a film personality for the first time, but to the editorial team of kinokino : “for the long support and accompaniment of the Hof Film Festival”.
