description

The former Preßwitz church went under in the reservoir in the 1930s . The church with a retracted choir tower , on which a baroque, curved dome was enthroned, was built in 1657, but its origins can be traced back to a Romanesque predecessor. The last church attendance in Preßwitz took place in 1937.

The hall church was rebuilt from 1934 to 1938 as a replacement for this sunken church. From the old Preßwitz church were u. a. three figures of a late Gothic winged altar from 1500, Georgian organ, the baptismal font with baptismal jug from 1686, a communion jug from 1662, and the bells from 1754 and 1924 in the Hohenwarten church.

The organ that Johann Michael Georgi had built in 1831 was built in 1934 by an unknown organ builder from the Preßwitz church. It has six registers , divided into a manual and a pedal .
