The Church of the Holy Assembly of all Serbian ( Serbian : Црква Сабора свих српских Светитеља, Crkva Sabora svih Srpskih Svetitelja) in the Opština (municipality) Bijeljina belonging village Dazdarevo is a Serbian Orthodox church in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina .

The church , built from 1999 to 2004, is dedicated to the assembly of all Serbian saints. It is the parish church of the parish Dazdarevo-Triješnica in the deanery Bijeljina of the eparchy Zvornik - Tuzla of the Serbian Orthodox Church .

location

The Church of the Assembly of All Serbian Saints is located in the center of the village of Dazdarevo, which has around 530 inhabitants. Dazdarevo is located in Semberija , about eight kilometers northeast of the municipality capital Bijeljina, not far from the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighboring country of Serbia to the east. The Bistrik River flows through the village .

The municipality of Bijeljina is located in the Republika Srpska , one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the RS has a predominantly Serbian population.

Not far from the church is the rectory, the Svetosavski-parohijski dom with the dimensions 11 × 9 m. The rectory was built from 2005 to 2007, and it was completely refurbished in 2012.

The slava of the village is Ascension Day (Spasovdan). The parish also has a branch church of St. Mary Magdalene in the neighboring village of Triješnica and is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene , the same as the apostle .

Parish cemeteries

There are also three Serbian Orthodox cemeteries in the parish. One is in Dazdarevo itself, the second in the neighboring village of Triješnica and the third in the neighboring village of Dvorovi . In Dvorovi only part of the cemetery belongs to the parish Dazdarevo-Triješnica.

The Dazdarevo cemetery dates from 1921. The Dvorovi cemetery from the 19th century. In the Dazdarevo cemetery there is a memorial to the Serbian Orthodox priest Ljubomir Krnić , who was murdered by the Ustaša together with his wife in 1941 during the Second World War in the Jasenovac concentration camp .

The parish Dazdarevo-Triješnica was founded in 2007, the parish registers have been kept since 2005, before they belonged to the parish of Dvorovi. The parish of Dazdarevo-Triješnica includes the villages Dazdarevo, Triješnica, Kriva Bara and a small part of the village Dvorovi. Before the church became an independent parish church, it was the subsidiary church of the Dvorovi parish.

Construction of the church began in September 1999 and on October 3, 1999, the foundations of the church were consecrated by the then bishop of the Zvornik-Tuzla Vasilije (Kačavenda) eparchy . Cvijetin Tomić from Dazdarevo is the godfather of the church foundations.

The construction work was finished in 2004 after five years. And on September 12, 2004, Bishop Vasilije (Kačavenda) solemnly inaugurated the Church of the Assembly of All Serbian Saints. Mladen Erić from Dazdarevo became church sponsor.

Architectural style and external appearance

The cross-domed church was built according to the design of the architect Ljubiša Škorić from Bijeljina. The ktitor (founder) of the church is Tomo Tomić from Dazdarevo, who was awarded the Second Order of St. Sava of Serbia at the inauguration of the church.

The single-nave church was built in the Serbian-Byzantine style , with an altar - apse in the east and a church tower with a church bell and a large entrance portal in the west. The church was built from small bricks with the dimensions 21.45 × 10.6 m.

The basic shape of the church is a Greek cross . A round dome rises above the middle of the nave at the intersection of the side arms.

The facade of the church is kept simple in white. The church has entrances on the west and south sides, the west entrance being the most important.

Iconostasis, icons and frescoes

The church is currently being painted with Byzantine frescoes by Siniša Budimir from Bijeljina. The iconostasis made of oak was carved by the Belgrade iconostasis builder Dragan Petrović . The icons were painted by the well-known icon painter Petar Bilić, also from the Serbian capital Belgrade.

Youth community of St. Sava of Serbia in Dazdarevo

The church community also includes the youth community of St. Sava of Serbia, this organization of young people can be found in many Serbian Orthodox parishes. They organize religious concerts and events, help the poorer people and contribute to the very lively parish of a Serbian Orthodox parish.

These youth communities were named after the Serbian national saint, the first archbishop and the illuminator of the Serbian people, St. Sava of Serbia . The Youth Community of St. Sava of Serbia in Dazdarevo works in close cooperation with the Youth Community of St. Sava of Serbia in Dvorovi and has also helped to build a house for the Morača family.

Parish priest

Archpriest Milan Ivanović was the priest of the church from the consecration of the church in 2004 until September 1st, 2007 . He was followed by the priest of the parish Jovan Ivanović , who is still in office today .
