Kirk Knight (born November 16, 1995 in New York , New York ; real name : Kirlan Labarrie ), also known under the pseudonyms The Kreeper and Kirk Killa , is an American rapper , music producer and songwriter who worked for the New York independent Label Cinematic Music Group is under contract. He is a member of the hip-hop collective Pro Era (Progressive Era) .

biography

Childhood and youth

Kirlan Labarrie was born in the Brooklyn borough of New York . He attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn's Flatbush neighborhood .

For Rap Kirlan came in middle school along with his childhood friend Jo-Vaughn Scott aka Joey Badass . At first he was mainly concerned with computer programs for music production in order to provide drum beats , instrumentals and samples for the rap enthusiast Jo-Vaughn . At the age of 16, in addition to producing hip-hop music , Kirlan began rapping himself. Through Jo-Vaughn he met his schoolmates Courtney Everald Dewar Jr. alias Capital STEEZ, Donnovan Malik Blocker alias Dyme-A-Duzin, Jesse Cordasco alias Nyck Caution, Chaine Downer Jr. alias CJ Fly, Powers Pleasant and Dyemond Lewis, who all attended Edward R. Murrow High School , a magnet school focused on music, dance, theater, graphic design, and the arts.

Music career

In addition to his collaboration with the musicians and artists of the Pro Era collective, Kirk Knight has so far collaborated with Mick Jenkins , Thundercat , Isaiah Rashad, Noname Gypsy and THEMPeople, as well as with the befriended hip-hop groups The Underachievers and Flatbush Zombies .

Kirk Knight sees himself as an artist of various genres , including hip-hop , electro , contemporary R&B, and jazz . He counts J Dilla , Madlib , Kanye West and The Notorious BIG among his favorite artists and influences.
