Kirtland I. Perky

Kirtland Irving Perky (born February 8, 1867 in Smithville , Wayne County , Ohio , † January 9, 1939 in Los Angeles ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ) who represented the state of Idaho in the US Senate .

After attending public schools, Kirtland I. Perky graduated from Ohio Northern University in Ada in 1888 . He studied law at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and was admitted to the bar in 1890, and he in Wahoo ( Nebraska started practicing as a lawyer). In 1894 he moved to Albion , Idaho, where he became a district judge for the state's fourth judicial district. He later worked as a lawyer in Boise .

After the death of the Republican US Senator Weldon B. Heyburn on October 17, 1912, Perky was elected by Idaho's Democratic Governor James H. Hawley as his successor in Congress . He took up his mandate from November 18 of the same year and resigned from the Senate on February 5, 1913. The official incumbent was the Republican James H. Brady , who prevailed in the by-election against Governor Hawley.

Kirtland Perky then worked again as a lawyer in Boise, then later in Los Angeles, where he lived from 1923.
