Michael Dean "Mike" Crapo (* 20th May 1951 in Idaho Falls , Idaho ) is an American politician of the Republican Party and United States Senator from the state of Idaho.

Life

Crapo was born to Melba Olsen and George Lavelle Crapo into a Mormon family. After leaving school, Crapo studied law and received a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 1973. At Harvard Law School , he earned the Juris Doctor in 1977 . In the 1980s, Crapo practiced as a lawyer in Idaho Falls and became a member of the Republican Party . From January 3, 1993 to January 3, 1999, Crapo was a member of the United States House of Representatives . Since then, Crapo has been a member of the United States Senate. After his re-election in 2016, his next term will run until January 3, 2023.

In June 1974, Crapo married Susan Diane Hasleton and has five children with his wife.
