Mike Simpson
Michael Keith "Mike" Simpson (born September 8, 1950 in Burley , Idaho ) is an American politician . Since 1999 he has represented the second constituency of the state of Idaho in the US House of Representatives .
Early years
Mike Simpson attended Blackfoot High School until 1968 . He then studied at Utah State University until 1972 . This was followed by studies at the Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis , where he studied dentistry until 1978. After that he worked as a dentist.
Political career
Mike Simpson became a member of the Republican Party . Between 1984 and 1998 he was an MP in the Idaho House of Representatives ; since 1993 he was the successor to Tom Boyd President of the House. In 1998 Simpson was elected to the US House of Representatives for the second constituency of Idaho, where he replaced Mike Crapo , who had moved to the Senate , on January 3, 1999 . After a few re-elections, he still holds this mandate today. After a renewed re-election in 2018, his term of office is expected to run until January 3, 2021 with the option of a further candidacy in 2020.
In Congress , Simpson is or was a member of the Grants Committee . He was previously a member of the Budget Committee . As a dentist, he also represents the interests of the American Dental Association in Congress. He is considered conservative. Nevertheless, he has often voted against the official party doctrine on some domestic political issues. Mike Simpson is married to Kathy Simpson and lives privately in Idaho Falls .
