Thomas L. Glenn

Thomas Louis Glenn (born February 2, 1847 in Bardwell , Carlisle County , Kentucky , † November 18, 1918 in Montpelier , Idaho ) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the state of Idaho in the US House of Representatives .

Early years and political beginnings

Thomas Glenn attended Commercial College in Evansville after elementary school . During the Civil War he was a soldier in the Confederate States Army . In 1864 he was wounded, captured by Union forces, and interned at Transylvania University in Lexington . He was later pardoned and released. After the war, Thomas Glenn was a senior civil servant in Ballard County between 1874 and 1882 . He joined the Populist Party , which was successful in those years , and was a member of the Kentucky Senate from 1887 to 1891 .

Further political career

After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1890, Thomas Glenn moved to Montpelier, Idaho, where he worked as a lawyer. In the congressional elections of 1900 he was elected to the US House of Representatives for the state of Idaho, where he replaced Edgar Wilson on March 4, 1901 . Glenn only served one term in Congress . In 1902 he did not run for re-election; its seat went to the Republican Burton L. French on March 4, 1903 . In 1904, Glenn was elected Mayor of Montpelier. In this city he continued to work as a lawyer. He died there in 1918.
