Bill Sali

William Thomas "Bill" Sali (born February 17, 1954 in Portsmouth , Ohio ) is an American politician . Between 2007 and 2009 he represented the first electoral district of the State of Idaho in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Bill Sali moved with his family to Idaho in 1962 and attended Capital High School in Boise through 1972 . He then studied at Boise State University until 1981 . After studying law at the University of Idaho and being admitted to the bar in 1984, he began working in this profession.

Sali became a member of the Republican Party . Between 1990 and 2006 he was an MP in the Idaho House of Representatives . There he was considered very conservative, especially in the social and economic area. He was a member of the House Health Committee and chaired a committee that dealt with health care. In the 2006 congressional election, William Sali was elected to the US House of Representatives for Idaho's first constituency. He was able to prevail with 50% of the vote against the Democrat Larry Grant. Sali received campaign support from leading Republicans from federal politics, including Vice President Dick Cheney .

In Congress , Bill Sali replaced Butch Otter on January 3, 2007 . He became a member of two committees ( Committee on Natural Resources and Committee on Oversight and Government Reform ). Sali was also considered conservative in Congress. He was against an increase in the minimum wage, for the Iraq war and against a troop withdrawal from this country. He was and is an opponent of the multicultural opening of the United States and invokes Christian traditions. In 2008 he was not re-elected. Therefore, he resigned on January 3, 2009 from the US House of Representatives.

William Sali has six grown children with his wife Terry. The family lives in Kuna, a suburb of Boise.
