John C. Sanborn

John Carfield Sanborn (born October 25, 1887 in Chenoa , McLean County , Illinois , † May 16, 1968 in Boise , Idaho ) was an American politician . Between 1947 and 1951 he represented the second constituency of the state of Idaho in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

John Sanborn attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1908 Oberlin College in Ohio . He then studied until 1912 at the law school of Columbia University in New York City law. After completing his studies, he worked in agriculture.

Political career

Sanborn became a member of the Republican Party . He was a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from 1921 to 1929, and a member of the State Senate from 1939 to 1941 . In the congressional elections of 1946 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the second constituency of Idaho state, where he replaced Henry Dworshak on January 3, 1947 . After re-election in 1948, John Sanborn was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 1951. In 1950 he no longer ran for this office; instead, he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the US Senate that year . In 1956 there was another unsuccessful candidacy for this body.

Another résumé

After his political career, Sanborn returned to farming and became president of Hagerman Farms Inc. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Farm Bureau Federation in Idaho. John Sanborn died in 1968 and was buried in Hagerman .
