Klaus-Michael Nelte

Klaus-Michael Nelte (born September 26, 1958 in Aachen ) is a Vice Admiral of the German Navy and the German military representative in the NATO Military Committee and the Military Committee of the European Union in Brussels ( Belgium ).

Military career

Training and first uses

Nelte was trained as an officer candidate with Crew VII / 77 in the German Navy . After studying the economics and organization at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg , he was naval aviation and became the weapon system officer on the Tornado trained. Here he was also a task force officer in Naval Aviation Squadron 1 , before taking part in admiral staff training at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg from 1991 to 1993 .

Service as a staff officer

After completing the admiralty staff training , Nelte was deployed as a squadron captain of the 2nd squadron in the Naval Aviation Squadron 2 . This was followed by a position as a speaker in the M Air department - naval aviation in the fleet command in Glücksburg - Meierwik . This was followed by a position as deputy commodore in Naval Aviation Squadron 2. This was followed by a further assignment in the staff department Fü S VI (planning) in the command staff of the armed forces in Bonn .

Service as an admiral

In 2010 Nelte was promoted to Flotilla Admiral as Deputy Military Representative and Chief of Staff at the German Military Representative in the NATO Military Committee and the EU in Brussels (Belgium), Lieutenant General Roland Kather and Hans-Lothar Domröse . From October 1, 2012, he was chairman of the working group of the EU Military Committee .

From May 1, 2013 to July 1, 2019, Nelte was Head of the Organization and Revision Department at the Federal Ministry of Defense, Berlin. This was also associated with the promotion to rear admiral . Among other things, he was process director and as such was responsible for the formalized processes in the Bundeswehr. He was directly subordinate to State Secretary Gerd Hoofe .

In July 2019, Nelte, under (temporary) promotion to Vice Admiral, succeeded Lieutenant General Hans-Werner Wiermann as German Military Representative in the Military Committee of NATO and EU in Brussels (Belgium).
