Klaus Gasperi (born August 7, 1950 in Bruneck , South Tyrol ) is a national stage designer and founder and director of the Bruneck City Theater .

Education and professional career

After graduating from the Art Academy in Venice , Gasperi worked for several years as a teacher for art education and as a set designer for the Bolzano studio of the public television broadcaster RAI . Since 1980 Gasperi has been working as a freelance set designer in Austria and Germany. He worked for the ORF , the ARD , the Ensembletheater Bozen, the United Theaters Bozen , the State Theater Innsbruck , the Schauspielhaus Salzburg , the Bühnen Graz , the Volksschauspiele Telfs , the Salzburger Landestheater , the Landestheater Niederbayern , the Waldviertler Hoftheater , the Stadttheater Fürth and the Gostner Court Theater in Nuremberg.

In 1994 Klaus Gasperi founded the Theater im Pub in Bruneck , one of the first professionally run theaters in South Tyrol. In 2000, the Theater im Pub became the Bruneck City Theater , of which Gasperi was the director and artistic director until 2020. In 1997 he began building the Bruneck Theater School, which was phased out in 2003, but reopened in 2009.

Gasperi and NC Kaser

In his youth, Gasperi was one of the closest people to the writer Norbert Conrad Kaser , who died prematurely in 1978 and with whom he had been active in the Italian Communist Party, among others . By collecting texts and correspondence from Kaser, Gasperi made a significant contribution to the posthumous publication of his works, most of which had remained unpublished during the author's lifetime.
