Brunico City Theater

The Bruneck City Theater is a German-language theater in Bruneck ( South Tyrol / Italy ).

history

The Bruneck City Theater was founded in 1994 by Klaus Gasperi as a theater in a pub . Initially housed in the "Hotel Bruneck", the theater changed its venue several times in the first years of its existence. The current headquarters at Dantestrasse 21 were relocated in 2006/07 after an extensive complete renovation. Since then, the Bruneck City Theater has realized around ten theater productions per season, including co-productions with friendly theaters from Austria and Germany. In addition to the theater business (which in addition to the in-house productions also includes theater guest performances as well as dance and children's theater), jazz concerts by internationally known musicians, cabaret as well as film and discussion events are regularly offered. Klaus Gasperi was responsible for the artistic direction of the Schauspielhaus from 1994 to 2020.

organization

The theater has an auditorium with 80 seats and a foyer with a bar. According to its statutes, it is a socially oriented association with no profit intentions. It pursues the purpose of promoting and maintaining a contemporary and at the same time professional theater. For this reason it is subsidized by the municipality of Bruneck and the province of Bolzano as part of public cultural funding. From 2001 to 2006, the Bruneck Theater School was affiliated with the Bruneck City Theater , which was operated again from 2009 to 2015 after a break of several years.

Guest performances and cooperations

The Municipal Theater Brunico is loaded again and again to give guest performances at major theaters of German abroad, including to the Tyrolean State Theater , the Salzburg State Theater , which stages Graz , the theater accent ( Vienna ), the Gostner Hoftheater ( Nuremberg ), the Tyrolean folk plays in Telfs , the Euro Central Theater ( Bonn ) and the Waldviertler Hoftheater in Pürbach .

Since it was founded, numerous well-known actors, directors, cabaret artists, writers, musicians and filmmakers have made guest appearances at the Bruneck City Theater as part of theater performances, jazz concerts and film events
