Klaus Held is dedicated to the continuation of the phenomenology founded by Edmund Husserl . He interprets it as the “phenomenology of the world” and as a modern renewal of the oldest idea of philosophy and science among the Greeks. He relies primarily on Husserl's concept of the lifeworld and on the phenomenological elements in Martin Heidegger's thinking. Held's phenomenology of the world splits into a “phenomenology of the political world”, the attempt to create a new historical-systematic foundation of political philosophy based on the ideas of Hannah Arendt , and into a “phenomenology of the natural world”. In the context of these fields of research, Held also dealt with the position of Europe in the globalized world and its influence both by the Roman reception of Greek thought and by biblical belief. In addition to the philosophical publications, he also publishes for a wider audience. His books and articles have been translated into 18 languages.
