Klaus Hupe (born October 12, 1928 in Hanover ) is a German surgeon and professional politician.

Life

Hupe's parents are commercial director August Hupe and his wife Erika. Klaus Hupe grew up with three siblings. At the age of 14 he was used as an anti-aircraft helper . Drafted into the Reich Labor Service shortly before the end of the war , he was imprisoned by the British for two months. From the winter semester 1948/49 he studied medicine at the Friedrich-Alexander University . In 1950 he became a member of the Corps Lusatia Leipzig , which was then based in Erlangen. He passed the state examination in 1954 and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. From 1955 to 1959, Hupe worked at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , including three years in pathology and one year in internal medicine. He then went through surgical training with Max Schwaiger at the Philipps University of Marburg . Specialist and senior physician since 1966, he was able to complete his habilitation in 1967 under Schwaiger's successor Horst Hamelmann . After four years as a private lecturer , he was appointed associate professor in 1971 . The Paracelsus Clinic in Marl elected him in December 1969 as chief physician in the surgical department. From 1985 to retirement in 1993 he was Medical Director of the clinic. For decades, Klaus Hupe was involved in medical self-administration. He was particularly committed to quality assurance in surgery and advanced medical training . From 1982 to 1995 he was chairman of the Academy for Medical Training of the Medical Association Westphalia-Lippe and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians Westphalia-Lippe.
