Klaus Jürgen Herrmann

Klaus Jürgen Herrmann (born July 25, 1947 in Elversberg ; † May 24, 2016 in Saarbrücken ) was a German historian and long-time city archivist of Schwäbisch Gmünd .

Life

After graduating from Ludwigsgymnasium in Saarbrücken in 1967, Herrmann studied history , geography and sociology at the University of Saarland . After completing his studies, he accepted a position as a research assistant at the University's Institute for History in 1971 . In 1972 Herrmann received his doctorate with Harald Zimmermann's work Das Tuskulaner Papstum . In 1973, he completed his legal clerkship at the Secret State Archive of Prussian Cultural Heritage in Berlin-Dahlem , before completing his training for the higher archives service at the Institute for Archival Studies in Marburg / Lahn until 1974 .

In 1975 Hermann took up the position at the Schwäbisch Gmünd city archive . In 1979 he moved to the Duisburg City Archives as archivist , but returned shortly afterwards to Schwäbisch Gmünd, where he held the position of senior archivist as city ​​archivist . In July 2012 Herrmann was retired from office. Herrmann expanded the district's largest archive into an educational and meeting place.

Herrmann was chairman of the Gmünder Geschichtsverein from 2004 to 2013 .
