Klenovica is a holiday resort in the Kvarner Bay directly on the Croatian Adriatic coast. It is located about 50 km southeast of Rijeka . The neighboring town of Novi Vinodolski is about 10 km away.

history

There are very few previous studies on the origin and development of Klenovica, especially from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day no one has seriously considered it.

One of the oldest documents mentioning Klenovica is from the end of the 14th century. In addition, Michael Bolonić mentions Klenovica as a port in his treatise " Uskoken and the island of Krk ", where in 1549 the Uskoken leader and captain Paul Lasinović came in with 300 Uskoks.

tourism

The main attraction of Klenovica is its fresh water springs that flow into the sea (mostly in the bay of Žrnovnica). The mixing of fresh and salt water is good for the development of flora and fauna and therefore an area rich in fish was created.

Today the former fishing and harbor town of Klenovica lives almost exclusively from tourism, which is supported by the year-round mild climate, good road connections and the proximity to Rijeka Airport on Krk .
