Kobylnice is located on the Nedvědická vrchovina mountains in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands and belongs to the Svratecká hornatina nature park. The village lies on the right side of the Bystřice and Svratka valleys on a ridge enclosed by both rivers at the foot of the Zubštejn castle ruins. To the north rises the Pyšolec (464 m), in the southeast the Sokolí hora ( Zumberg , 625 m), south the Jahodná (586 m) and in the west the Zubrštejn ( Zuberstein , 687 m). To the north is the Vír II dam .

Neighboring towns are Vír and Věstínek in the north, Bolešín in the northeast, Koroužné in the east, Švařec in the southeast, Borovec, Štěpánov nad Svratkou and Kozlov in the south, Lesoňovice in the southwest, Pivonice in the west and Jitřenka and Hrdá Ves in the northwest.

history

The first mention of the village belonging to the Pernštejn domain took place in 1544 under the name Nivsko , when it was placed under the judge of Štěpánov . Until 1596 the place was called Nivsko and in the 17th century as Kobylnice . It is assumed that the inhabitants of the small settlement on the slope of the Zuberstein lived from horse breeding. In 1750 Kobylnice was parish after Štěpánov. The school location remained Pivonice.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kobylnice / Kobilnitz formed a community in the Neustadtl district from 1850 . During the German occupation, the community was given the German name Zuberstein from 1939 . In 1949 the community came to Okres Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. 1961 Kobylnice was incorporated into Koroužné and at the same time assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1991 the place had 50 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 15 houses in which 45 people lived.
