Hummingbird (painter)

Kolibri , actually Werner Blattmann (born September 29, 1951 in Altenburg ) is a German painter , graphic artist , caricaturist and illustrator .

Live and act

Werner Blattmann was born and raised in Altenburg, which is now incorporated into Jestetten . After a two-year trip through Europe and the Middle East, he worked for a long time in a kibbutz in Israel. He then completed a graphic design degree in Munich and Stuttgart. As a graphic artist and draftsman, he first worked for taz in West Berlin from 1984 under the artist name Kolibri and stayed in the city until 1996 as a layouter, illustrator and draftsman for various other print media (including the Austrian Literature Forum ) and publishers. Since 1996 Kolibri has been living and working again in Altenburg am Rhein.

His pictures have been part of numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. He has also received several prizes and awards, most recently the EnBW sponsorship award in 2006 . His illustrations have been published in around 100 newspapers and magazines. He illustrated numerous books and also published several books of his own.

He is a member of the Schaffhausen Art Association and the International Bodensee Club .
