Ulrich Karger

Ulrich Karger (approx. 1992)

Ulrich Karger (born February 3, 1957 in Berchtesgaden ) is a German writer and religion teacher .

Act

Ulrich Karger initially worked as an educator in children's and youth recreational facilities and then went on to train to become a religion teacher. Since 1984 he has been teaching at a language therapy school .

His book publications are aimed at children and adults. One of his most successful works is Homer: The Odyssey , a complete retelling of the Odyssey of Homer as young people. His picture book text for witching hour in kindergarten has been translated into five languages.

In addition, Ulrich Karger was an author and editorial assistant at the Austrian Literature Forum and has been writing reviews as a freelancer since 1985 , which he initially published in the local newspapers and the former literary alternative magazine Ulcus Molle Info . a. published in journals such as Religion heute and in daily newspapers such as the Berliner Zeitung . Since 1995 he has been reviewing mainly for the Tagesspiegel . In 2000, he also set up a freely accessible online review archive with the book review, which has been constantly updated since then, in which his book reviews and brief notes published in the press can be retrieved free of charge after they have been printed.

In 2010 he founded the Edition Gegenwind label , which now includes writers such as u. a. Gabriele Beyerlein , Thomas Fuchs , Manfred Schlüter and Christa Zeuch, in addition to some original editions , have reissued out-of- print books that they no longer have in stores.

Karger is a member of the Association of German Writers and lives in Berlin .
