Kōnan ( Japanese 香 南市 -shi ) is a city in Kōchi prefecture in Japan .

Kōnan is east of Kōchi and west of Aki on the Tosa Bay of the Pacific Ocean .

history

Kōnan was formed on March 1, 2006 from the union of the communities Akaoka ( 赤 岡 町 , -chō ), Kagami ( 香 我 美 町 , -chō ), Noichi ( 野 市 町 , -chō ) and Yasu ( 夜 須 町 , -chō ), as well as the Yoshikawa ( 吉川 村 , -mura ) village in Kami County was established. The district was then dissolved.
