Konawe Utara (German: North Konawe ) is a government district ( Kabupaten ) in the southeast of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi . The district is part of the Sulawesi Tenggara Province ( Southeast Sulawesi ).

geography

The county is bordered to the north by the province of Central Sulawesi (district Morowali) and the District Konawe and in the west and south by the district Konawe . In the east the Banda Sea ( Laut Banda ) forms a natural border.

The administrative district was created in early 2007 through the spin-off of seven districts from the north-eastern part of Konawe District (Law No. 13/2007). At the 2010 census , the administrative district had a population of 51,533.

The Konawe Utara District consists of 13 administrative districts ( Kecamatan ) and 170 villages ( Kelurahan / Desa ).
