Muna is a government district ( Kabupaten ) on the Indonesian island of the same name , which belongs to the main island of Sulawesi . The district is one of 15 that the Sulawesi Tenggara Province ( Southeast Sulawesi ) is divided into.

geography

The largest district on the island of Muna has existed since the province was founded (1964). The district includes the northeast part of the island of Muna and a smaller part on the neighboring island of Buton to the east . In 2014, the north-western part of the administrative district was separated as an independent Muna Barat district . The capital is Raha .

For the 2010 census (SP 2010 = Sensus Penduduk), a total of 268,277 inhabitants were counted in the then administrative district with 33 districts. 71,632 (26.7%) of them lived in the 11 districts that made up the new administrative district of Muna Barat in 2014 .
