Konrad Auer (born August 9, 1965 in Bruneck ) is a South Tyrolean alpinist and full-time mountain and ski guide.

Together with the South Tyrolean extreme mountaineer Hans Kammerlander, he climbed the Kangchenjunga ( 8,589  m ) in the Himalayas / Nepal , the third highest mountain in the world, in 1998 . After that, he twice had to break off the attempt to climb K2 in the Pakistani Karakoram , also with Hans Kammerlander : in 1999 the two mountaineers failed just below the summit in the drift snow and in 2000 persistently bad weather at 8,000 meters prevented them from advancing further. In 2009, Hans Kammerlander and Konrad Auer climbed Mount Kenya together as part of Kammerlander's project Seven Second Summits , which aims to climb the second highest peak on all continents. In 2010 the two climbed Mount Logan in Canada as part of this project .

Rock climbing

There are also numerous difficult climbing routes in the Dolomites , including the Three Peaks , the Civetta and the Marmolada . The winter ascent of the Philipp Flamm route in the Civetta north-west face and the Messner route on the Peitlerkofel were spectacular .

Ice climbing

As a specialist in ice climbing , he attracted attention with numerous first ascents of difficult ice fall routes and mixed tours , including in Canada. In addition, he became known as a co-author of an ice climbing guide about the Dolomites.
