Konrad von Grünewaldt
Konrad Friedrich von Grünewaldt (born January 1, 1884 in Reval ; † October 5, 1945 in Berlin ) was a road construction engineer and professor , he came from the Baltic States . He was involved in the construction of several railway lines and various landscape and railway projects in Estonia , as well as lines of the Baltic Railway .
Life
Konrad v. G. attended the Nikolai grammar school in Reval from 1901 to 1905 . From 1905 to 1906 he did his military service in the Imperial Russian Army . From 1906 to 1909 he studied engineering at the Riga Polytechnic , which he finished with a degree in civil engineering. He gained his first professional experience 1909/10 as road construction - engineer the Livonian knights . From 1910 to 1912 he worked as a distance manager and assistant in the construction of the narrow-gauge railway from Smilten to Haynasch , in what is now Latvia . From 1913 he worked as a road construction engineer for the Estonian Knighthood and headed the railway project from Taps to Weißenstein (now Estonia). Another military service in the tsarist army , he graduated from 1914 to 1918 as a Russian reserve - officer , in this period he was in the building administration to build the 1917 Peter the Great's Naval Fortress used in Reval. At the beginning of 1918 he was arrested by the Bolsheviks and deported to Krasnoyarsk in Siberia
In the summer of 1918 he worked on some railway projects for the Estonian knighthood and served in the Baltic regiment from 1918 to 1920 . In the years 1920/21 he took study trips and scientific work to Germany , from 1922 he was chief engineer and authorized signatory in the engineering office of Professor Ludin . This was followed by the 1925 Promotion to Doctor engineer , joined the following activities: 1926 Assistant at the Institute for road and railway construction and 1927 lecturer for special lanes. In 1932 he became associate professor at the Technical University of Karlsruhe and from 1934 professor at the Technical University in Danzig . Since 1924 he was an honorary knight of the Order of St. John .

Origin and family
Konrad Friedrich v. G. came from the German-Baltic noble family von Grünewaldt . His father was Johann Magnus Walter von Grünewaldt (* 1857 in Affel ; † 1910 in Dortmund ), Herr auf Affel, who was married to Olga von der Pahlen-Astrau (* 1856). In 1813 Konrad married Marie von Löwenstern , their son was Johann Georg Walter Otto von Grünewaldt (* 1914 in Reval).
