Live and act

During his studies, Ludin became a member of the Tulla Karlsruhe fraternity in 1899 . In 1904 he graduated as a civil engineer , in 1910 he earned his doctorate. 1904 to 1914 and 1919 he was an engineer for the Baden Railway and the Baden Hydraulic Engineering and Road Administration. In 1920 he became a private lecturer at the Technical University in Karlsruhe, and in 1923 professor for hydraulic engineering at the Technical University in Berlin. Since 1939 he was also a member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin.

Already in his first work as a civil engineer he dealt with hydraulic issues and in 1906 made studies on the navigability of the Neckar . In 1913/14 and 1918–20 he was involved in the construction of the two Murg hydropower plants I and II on the Murg . From 1920 he was a consultant for other hydraulic engineering projects. In 1921 he made studies on the technical and financial feasibility of hydropower plants on the Imara River in Finland . In 1924 he worked on the same projects on the Rioni , Kura and Aras rivers in Transcaucasia ( Georgia and Azerbaijan ).

In 1930 he presented a project to the government of Uruguay to build the Rincón del Bonete dam and in 1933 he worked out this project in its final form. Between 1947 and 1951 he planned 15 dams and hydropower plants in Yugoslavia, including the Jablanica hydropower plant on the Neretva and one on the Drina .
