The Consoles State Championship ( KSM ) is the annual Austrian e-sports championship for console players . The competition has been held since 2009 by the eSport Association Austria under the direction of Peter Inmann . The best players compete in a fair competition and determine the Austrian national champion. The competition is divided into a qualification phase (mainly online) and a final tournament, which now traditionally takes place every Sunday as part of Game City in the Vienna City Hall . The tournament is supported by the Federal Agency for the Positive Rating of Computer and Console Games (BuPP), a department of the Federal Ministry of Economics, Family and Youth .

Conditions of participation

Every player is entitled to take part in the KSM competitions if the following requirements are met:

qualification

There are several ways to qualify for the Console State Championship finals. In addition to online tournaments on various platforms, such as the Consoles Sports League, the console department of the Electronic Sports League , tickets for the finals are also played out at various LAN parties . The tournament mode is always left to the respective organizer. The rules of the KSM must always be applied. All qualification dates will be announced by the league management on the official homepage in due time.

final

The final takes place annually as part of Game City , Austria's largest trade fair for computer and console games, in the Vienna City Hall. Some encounters, especially the finals, are played out on a stage in front of an audience. Entry is free for visitors. The competition is always one day and so far (2009 and 2010) always took place on Sunday. All tournaments are played in double elimination mode with four players.

Set of rules

In the official KSM rules, all things are regulated that are necessary for a fair course of the competition. It begins with a general part in which all basic provisions are named regardless of the disciplines. This is followed by the game-specific part. All game settings are listed there and any forbidden bugs or settings are pointed out. The set of rules is concluded with a catalog of penalties, which is used if the rules are violated. Due to various updates to the games, it is important in e-sports that the rules are always updated. The league management of the KSM takes care of this.
