Konstantin von der Pahlen (politician, 1861)
Konstantin Johann Georg von der Pahlen ( Russian Константин Констанович Пален / Konstantin Konstanowitsch Palen;. Scientific transliteration Konstantin Konstanovič Palen (born March 14 jul. / 26. March 1861 greg. In St. Petersburg ; d. 14. August 1923 in Wernigerode )) was a German-Baltic , Russian statesman and explorer of the Count von der Pahlen family .
Life
He was the son of the Russian politician Konstantin Graf von der Pahlen (1830–1912) and served as Vice-Governor of Warsaw (1897) and of Pleskau and Governor of Wilna (1902), Senator (1906) and Real Master of Ceremonies (1899–1903) ) and Real Hofmeister (1906). In 1903 he wrote a secret memorandum on the situation of the Jews in Russia , which was published by the federal government in Geneva in 1904 , and submitted proposals to a commission of the Interior Ministry to revise the current Jewish laws. He considered it necessary to repeal the May Laws of 1882, which he described as a "blow to the poor, harmless part of the population" which had led to the impoverishment of the working part of Judaism.
He was the bearer of the Order of the White Eagle , the Order of St. Vladimir IV., III. and II. Class, St. Anna Order III., II. and I. Class and St. Stanislaus Order III., II. and I. Class.
Pahlen married Sophie Luise Tatjana Freiin von Nikolay (1862–1943) in 1890. The marriage resulted in four daughters and one son.

He is the author of a travelogue about the Russian- occupied Turkestan , which was also translated into German (on behalf of the Tsar in Turkestan 1908-1909) .
