The motor boat Konstanz is on the Lake traffic forming liner of Lake Constance Schiffsbetriebe (BSB).

history

Based on economic considerations , the German Federal Railroad (DB) decided in 1963 to retire its last steamship , the city of Überlingen , after only 34 years of service because of the higher costs compared to a motor ship . In the same year she commissioned the Bodan shipyard in Kressbronn to build a new ship. The ship, which is similar to the motor ships Stuttgart and Munich , but was only built as a two-deck ship, was to be used on the Überlinger See .

On May 24, 1964, the new building was put into service under the name of Konstanz , and the maiden voyage took place three days later .

Since the motor ship did not prove itself on the voyages in the Überlinger See, it was moved from Konstanz to Lindau in 1965 in an exchange procedure with the then Germany (later Überlingen ) . The Constance mastered together with the Stuttgart course traffic on the upper lake from Lindau. It was also used for round trips and special trips.

In winter 2000/2001 the ship was rebuilt, modernized and overhauled. In the spring of 2006, Konstanz swapped home port with the motor ship Schwaben and came to Friedrichshafen , where it took over the regular and special trips. From the main season 2007 it was mainly used again from Lindau, where it has been based again since 2008.

In the winter of 2009/2010 it was completely overhauled in the BSB shipyard in Friedrichshafen, and in 2014 the main engines were replaced. In addition to public scheduled shipping for the White Fleet , she is also on the charter service with the Obersee and Überlinger See area.
